“And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds.”
📖 Surah Al-Anbiya (21:107)
The evening sun cast a golden glow over the quiet courtyard. Young Omar, no older than twelve, sat cross-legged beside his grandfather, who was resting on an old wooden bench. The scent of freshly brewed tea filled the air as the elder gently stirred his cup, watching the birds return home.
“Grandfather,” Omar asked, his voice filled with curiosity, “who was Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)? We learn about him in school, but I want to really understand—who was he as a person?”
His grandfather smiled, setting down his cup. He had waited for this moment—when his grandson would ask not just to memorize facts, but to truly know the Prophet.
“Ah, my dear Omar,” he said, patting the boy’s shoulder. “Come, let me tell you about the most remarkable man to ever walk this earth.”
More than 1400 years ago, in the sacred city of Mecca, a child was born into the noble Quraysh tribe—one who would change the course of history. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was not only a messenger of Allah’s final revelation, the Quran, but also a leader, a teacher, and a mercy to all of humanity.
The Orphan Who Would Change the World
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was born in the Year of the Elephant (570 CE), a year when Abraha, the ruler of Yemen, tried to destroy the Kaaba with an army of elephants—but was miraculously stopped by flocks of birds sent by Allah.
📖 “Have you not seen how your Lord dealt with the companions of the elephant?” (Quran 105:1-5)
His father, Abdullah, died before his birth, and his mother, Amina, passed away when he was just six years old. He was then raised by his grandfather Abdul Muttalib, and later by his uncle Abu Talib, who loved him dearly but remained a non-Muslim until his death.
“Nor does he speak from [his own] inclination. It is not but a revelation revealed.”
📖 Surah An-Najm (53:3-4)
His Marriage to Khadijah: A Love Story of Respect
“As he grew, Muhammad (PBUH) became known as Al-Ameen (The Trustworthy) and As-Sadiq (The Truthful). Even before prophethood, people would leave their valuables with him, knowing he would never betray their trust.”
“He worked as a merchant,” his grandfather continued, “and his honesty caught the attention of a noblewoman named Khadijah. She admired his character so much that she proposed marriage. They built a life full of love, respect, and faith.”
At 25 years old, Muhammad (PBUH) worked as a merchant and was entrusted with the business of a wealthy and noble woman, Khadijah bint Khuwaylid. She was deeply impressed by his character and proposed marriage—an offer he humbly accepted.
💡 Hadith: “The best of you are those who are best to their wives, and I am the best to my wives.” (Sunan Ibn Majah 1977)
For 15 years, before receiving revelation, he lived a life of peace and reflection, raising a family and earning the respect of his people.
Khadijah bint Khuwaylid (RA), holds a special place in Islam. While the Qur’an does not mention her by name, there are several Hadiths that highlight her virtues.
Omar smiled. “So even before he became a prophet, he was already special?”
His grandfather chuckled. “Oh yes, my dear. And then, something happened that changed the world forever.”
📖 Hadith Reference:
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported that the Angel Jibril (AS) came to the Prophet ﷺ and said:
“O Messenger of Allah! Khadijah is coming to you with a dish of food or drink. When she reaches you, convey to her the greetings of peace from her Lord and from me, and give her glad tidings of a house in Paradise, made of pearls, wherein there will be no noise nor any fatigue.”
📚 Sahih al-Bukhari (3820), Sahih Muslim (2432)
🔹 This shows Khadijah’s special status and honor from Allah and Jibril (AS).
The First Revelation: The Night That Changed Everything
“It was a quiet night in the Cave of Hira. At 40 years old, Muhammad (PBUH) would often retreat to the Cave of Hira, seeking peace, reflecting on life. But this night was different.”
📖 “Recite in the name of your Lord who created – Created man from a clot. Recite! And your Lord is the Most Generous.” (Quran 96:1-3)
“The Angel Jibreel (Gabriel) appeared before him, delivering the first words of the Quran. Muhammad (PBUH) trembled—this was something beyond human experience.”
Omar leaned in. “Was he scared?”
“Yes. He rushed home to his wife Khadijah, saying, ‘Cover me! Cover me!’ She comforted him, assuring him that Allah would never abandon him.”
Thus began his mission as the final messenger of Allah.
💡 Hadith: “This is the same angel who came to Moses; you have been chosen as a prophet.”
(Sahih Bukhari 3)

The Messenger of Allah (SWT)
“But with the message came a great trial. The people of Mecca, especially the powerful Quraysh leaders, rejected him. They mocked him, tortured his followers, and tried to stop his message.”. They persecuted him and his followers, calling him a madman, a sorcerer, and a liar.
Omar frowned. “Why? Wasn’t he telling the truth?”
His grandfather sighed. “Yes, but truth is not always welcomed by those who hold power. He called for justice, for the worship of one God—Allah, and for an end to the oppression of the weak. This threatened the Quraysh leaders.”
📖 “And they say, ‘O you upon whom the Reminder has been sent down, indeed you are mad.'” (Quran 15:6)
His companions were tortured, some martyred, including Sumayyah, the first martyr in Islam.
He and his followers faced economic and social boycotts, suffering hunger for three years.
“But he never stopped and his determination never wavered.”
“Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who have believed, send blessings upon him and greet him with peace.”
(Quran 33:56)
“Allah granted him miracles to strengthen his message,” his grandfather continued.
📝 “Once, when his people doubted him, he pointed to the moon, and by Allah’s will, it split in two.” (Sahih Bukhari, 4867)
📖 “The Hour has come near, and the moon has split in two.” (Quran 54:1)
“Another time, when his followers were thirsty, he placed his hands in a small bowl of water, and it flowed endlessly, enough for hundreds.” (Sahih Bukhari, 3576)
Omar’s mouth dropped open. “That’s amazing!”
His grandfather chuckled. “Yes, but the greatest miracle is still with us today.”
The Quran - His Greatest Miracle
“The Quran is a book of guidance, wisdom, and divine truth. Unlike other miracles, which happened once and were witnessed by few, the Quran is here for all of humanity, unchanged for over 1400 years.”
Omar held his grandfather’s hand. “So, if we want to know him, we should read the Quran?”
His grandfather smiled. “Exactly, my boy. It is his living miracle.”
“We have, without doubt, sent down the Reminder, and We will surely preserve it.”
(Quran 15:9)

The Migration to Madinah and Return to Mecca
“When things became dangerous in Mecca, Allah commanded Muhammad (PBUH) to leave. He and his best friend, Abu Bakr, hid in a cave while their enemies searched for them.
He established a just society, where Muslims, Jews, and Christians lived in peace under the Constitution of Madinah.
After years of war, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his followers returned to Mecca, but not as conquerors seeking revenge. Instead, he forgave his enemies, saying:
💡 Hadith: “Go, for you are free.” (Sunan Ibn Majah 2139)
The Kaaba was cleansed of idols, and Mecca became the heart of Islam.
📖 “Truth has come, and falsehood has perished.” (Quran 17:81)
Omar’s eyes softened. “Even after everything they did to him, he forgave them?”
“Yes,” his grandfather whispered. “Because he was not sent to destroy—he was sent as a mercy.”
“Do not grieve; indeed, Allah is with us.”
(Quran 9:40)
His Death and Legacy: A Final Message of Unity
“Today I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion.”
(Quran 5:3)
At 63 years old, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) delivered his Final Sermon on the plain of Arafat, reminding his followers
Soon after, he fell ill and passed away in the arms of Aisha (RA). His final words were:
💡 “O Allah, the highest companion.” (Sahih Bukhari 4463)
Even today, his words and actions guide billions of Muslims worldwide. His character was described by Allah Himself:
📖 “And indeed, you are of a great moral character.” (Quran 68:4)
💡 Hadith: “The best among you are those who have the best character.” (Sahih Bukhari 3559)
He was not just a prophet—he was a teacher, a statesman, a husband, a father, and a mercy to all of humanity.
The story of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is one of love, sacrifice, and divine guidance. He left behind the Quran, his Sunnah, and a path to eternal success.
If we wish to know him, we must read his teachings, follow his character, and spread his message of peace and justice.
✨ May Allah bless and guide us all to follow the path of His beloved Messenger. Ameen. 🤲
